PAC-10 Power Rankings: Week 6

1. UCLA (E) – After taking care of business at home against the Trojans there’s no reason to contemplate UCLA surrendering the top spot this week. They’ll travel to the desert this week to face a team that beat them at Pauley and a streaking Arizona team.
2. CAL (+2) – The Golden Bears seem to have regained their swagger and composure after a 4-game bump in the road and look to continue to build momentum in the second half when they look for revenge at home against the Cardinal.
3. Washington (-1) – The Huskies have quickly lost that best record in the conference with splits the last two weeks, but have a good chance at regaining it when they host the bottom two teams in the conference.
4. ASU (+1) – The Sun Devils gain a spot this week a road sweep of the Oregon schools. With two tough home games this week they have a chance to solidify their spot in the top 3 of the conference.
5. Arizona (+1)– Currently riding their longest winning streak of the season, the ‘Cats seem to finally have put it together. They’re Tournament hopes are still on the line, but they can do some convincing with a sweep this week. A split is expected, but pulling off the tough sweep would almost make them a lock for the Tourney.
6. USC (-3) – Another loss to UCLA drops them down in the rankings this week. They’re a dangerous team when they play together, but they’re still streaky. They’ll have a tough go in the desert this weekend as they have failed to beat a quality opponent on the road all season.
7. Stanford (+2)– The Cardinal climbed in the polls this week despite a 1-1 outing last week They are currently fighting for superiority over Washington State and Oregon State. It’s a big drop from a year ago when they were fighting for the conference crown with UCLA.
8. Washington State (-1)– A slow-down offense requires a lot of experience and patience. The Cougars have too many key players with too little experience to make a second-half push. They’re a year or two away from being scary again.
9. Oregon State (-1) – They controlled the tempo against Arizona, and limited Arizona State’s productivity but have an 0-2 mark on the week to show for it. Getting swept on your home court is never good, but it’s worse when you play well and still lose.
10. Oregon (E) – The Ducks still remain winless during conference play and that 0-18 mark is edging ever closer. At some point the talent they have should gel and payoff with a win – at least that’s the hope. Ducks’ fans are just hoping they don’t have to wait until next season to see it happen.
